Industrial and Manufacturing: What You Need to Know

Hello! My name is Ken and I would like to welcome you to my new industrial and manufacturing blog. I don't work in the industry myself, but ever since I was a child, I have been fascinated with the way things are made on an industrial scale. It all started when my dad bought me a book about Victorian engineers. I was amazed at the scale and scope of their industry. As I grew older, I kept up a keen interest in the sector and subscribed to several trade magazines. Last year, I retired from my job at the bank so I decided to start this blog.

How Concrete Densifier Treatment Can Benefit Your Auto Showroom

An indoor showroom is the centerpiece of many large auto dealerships, providing an attractive area to display your most sought-after models, and keeping potential customers comfortable while you make sales. However, your showroom must be properly maintained like any other customer-facing building. Proper maintenance of your showroom's concrete floor is particularly important.

Densification treatment is an important aspect of concrete floor maintenance, and your showroom's concrete floor should be treated with densifier chemicals on a regular basis. Here is everything you need to know about how densifiers will help keep your showroom's concrete floor in good condition.

What Are Concrete Densifiers?

Concrete densifiers, also known as chemical hardeners, are specialized liquids that are applied to the surface of concrete flooring. These chemicals are absorbed into the concrete's porous surface, where they harden and cure. As they harden, molecular bonds are created between the chemicals and the sand, fillers and other solid materials present within the concrete.

This hardening process transforms the surface of a concrete floor into a rigid, chemically-bonded surface, that is more structurally stable and resistant to abrasion than untreated concrete. They are especially effective when applied to the smooth, polished concrete floors generally found in auto showrooms.

How Can Concrete Densifiers Benefit Your Auto Showroom?

Prevents Concrete Dust Formation

Heavy foot traffic and the weight of parked vehicles can cause microscopic abrasion damage to the surface of untreated concrete flooring. This damage creates a significant amount of concrete dust.

Large amounts of concrete dust can make it more difficult to keep your auto showroom clean. It can also adhere to vehicle paintwork, causing tiny scratches and abrasions that will dull the vibrancy of the paint and leave it more vulnerable to chips and cracks.

Concrete dust will also find its way into the filters of your showroom's HVAC system, making HVAC maintenance more time-consuming and expensive. This can be especially problematic for showrooms in hot or cold climates, which rely heavily on HVAC systems to keep customers and employees comfortable.

The binding effect created by concrete densifiers helps to minimize the creation of concrete dust, especially when combined with a urethane or epoxy-based concrete sealant product. Less dust will make cleaning and maintaining your showroom easier and cheaper.

Extends Concrete Lifespan

The strong binding effect created by concrete densifiers also helps to prevent concrete damage at the macroscopic (visible) level. All concrete floors are vulnerable to cracking and pitting as a natural consequence of time and wear, but the extra structural strength provided by densifier treatment can extend the useful life of a concrete floor, and minimize the need for serious repair work.

Improved Shine

Concrete densifiers also increase the shine and reflectiveness of polished concrete floors. This can help to make your showroom more attractive in general, and will also improve ambient lighting conditions in your showroom, helping you show off your premium vehicle models to the best effect.
